How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign works on the principle of moving the teeth slowly and bring them to proper alignment. There are many procedures that need to be followed before the results appear. The entire process consists of deciding on how many teeth need to be moved to get the desired smile. Invisalign are clear plastic aligner trays worn over the existing teeth to help them move slowly in a predesignated direction. The trays need to be on the teeth for maximum hours in a day. They are removed only for eating, brushing and flossing the teeth. Which amounts to about 20 to 22 hours a day.

What are advantages of Invisalign over other orthodontic treatments?

  • Invisalign are removable trays. They can be removed whenever the need arises, unlike traditional brackets which are fixed to the teeth with wires and rubber bands.
  • The Invisalign treatment uses digital technology for imaging of the teeth which is used to create the trays. This results in precision in procedures.
  • Before the patient gets the desired smile, he/she does not have to go through the embarrassing time of wearing metal appliances and wiring on the teeth.
  • Invisalign trays allows for cleaning and oral hygiene time because they are removable.
  • Because it is discreet as the name suggests, the wearer is put at ease when wearing it.
  • It can be opted for by any age adults, whether teenage or older.
